A mixed day of training.
First, I went to the track to see if I could run one mile (four laps), just below my lactate threshold, faster than I did on 5/5/02. It's very hard to keep your HR steady, within a beat or two of target. It was also hard because I had to jog so slow to keep it on target! But, I did one mile in 12:52, which is a slight improvement (previous was 13:07).
Then I did some mulching in the yard. I kept my HR monitor on, to see if I was really getting an aerobic workout. I was. Lifting, dragging and carrying bags of mulch definitely raises the HR. Of course, my HR went up and down, if I was carrying vs. spreading mulch. But overall, I feel I can count it as exercise. I mulched for 45 minutes.
