I awoke rested and ready to orienteer at the PTOC meet this morning. I was also in a good mood since KU won the night before. I wanted to concentrate on my orienteering today, and let the pace take care of itself.

It was a beautiful sunny day. It's been a dry winter/spring, so the fields, horse trails and streams were all dry. However, this park was hit hard by the ice storm; there were downed tree limbs every where. Trails were not necessarily a good route choice. Once, I had to change my route choice in the middle of a leg, due to the downed limbs.

I had one boom, but the rest of the course went smoothly. I knew I was moving slowly through the debris, but I figured everyone else would be, as well. I thought it would be hard to break 10 minutes per K.

I was wrong on two counts: Dan managed 9 minutes per K, and I was not pushing as hard as I should have. My time was 2.11 times Dan's time. I definitely could have done better today, even including my boom. A lesson learned.

TT = 205 minutes for the week
