Day Four of the Oringen

Much better. It helped that it was a short course on a 1:10, 000 map. I felt satisfied with my concentration, and did not spend too much time wandering around. One time I was just about to bail out when I found my control; another time I was bailing out when I hit my control. My time was faster (66 minutes) but the winner took only 26.

I finally looked at my splits today for all four stages. I also calculated my times per Km. It looks like my best day was Day One, when I decided to take it slow and careful. If you look at what WinSplits calculates my time to be if I made no mistakes, I'm remarkably consistant in times per Km. However, in real life, I made huge mistakes on day three, and many small mistakes (half the controls) today.

Overall, my times per Km compared to the winner are: day one 2.3; day two 2.3; day three 3.0; day four 2.5. My strategy for tomorrow is to be very careful with the navigation, and not worry about the walking/running pace. Can I break 2.0 compared to the winner just once?? I will have a very late start, which will mean many elephant trails to follow, but I also get bored waiting around for a late start. I shall try my best.
